Cottbus is the 2nd largest town in Brandenburg and is situated in Lower Lusatia, at the border of the Spree Forest. When staying at a Cottbus hotel, you will recognise that the life in this town is characterised by the mixture of Germans and Sorbs. You will find baroque town houses and comfortable hotels at the Cottbus Altmarkt (old market square). While staying in Cottbus, we recommend you to visit the historic Pharmacy Museum in the Löwenapotheke (Lion Pharmacy) built in 1586. Only a few steps away from the hotels, you will find the church Oberkirche built in the 14th century, which is ranking as one of Lower Lusatia’s largest sacred buildings and contains a beautiful high altar. The town’s symbol is the Spremberger Turm (Spremberg Tower), a residue of the former fortification. If you want to know more about the city’s history while residing there, we recommend you to visit the Town Museum.
The local theatre is designated the city’s cultural treasure. The glamorous events within this wonderful example of art nouveau will enrich your stay at a Cottbus hotel. You will encounter perfect German horticulture in the Park of Branitz, where Prince Hermann of Pückler-Muskau created a harmonic synthesis of the arts of landscape, sculptures and architecture. The Messe Cottbus (trade fair location) is located within the Spreeauenpark and houses fairs as well as concerts. The Cottbus hotels are mostly fully booked in January, when the travel exposition takes place and in February, when there is an educational fair being held. 46 bus lines are crossing the city and make it easy for you to reach your hotel in Cottbus. If you wish to visit the exhibition centre or the animal park, you may take the park train.
