Indonesia’s Smallest Province
Bali is one of the islands that make up the chain known as Indonesia. Bali and a few of the neighboring islands all make up part of the Bali province.
What really makes Bali known around the world, is the beautiful weather, laid back lifestyle and beaches that make it to be a fantastic tourist destination.
Until recently, Bali was predominantly reached via airline through the Ngurah Rai International Airport. However, since 2011 cruise ships have also been docking just offshore and entering the island at Benoa port. The port has capitalized and has received a number of awards on providing a great port experience.
Surfing and Beach Paradise
Bali is known for having some truly incredible beaches. And in recent years, it has been really growing in popularity as a new found big wave surf spot as well. Due to the island’s unique position it gets hit with a combination of swells and wind that make the waves really excellent for surf fans.
Visitors come from all over the world to hit the waves off of some of Bali’s best beaches. During the dry season for some great waves head to Medewi, Kuta Reef and Canggu. While the wet season is going on, many visitors love heading to Sanur, Nusa Dua and Green Balls beaches. Even if visitors are interested in just lounging on the beach, these are all great destinations to sit back and relax with a great book under an umbrella.
Tons of Arts and Culture
Beyond just the beaches, Bali is a hotspot for culture and arts. The artists and artisans on the island are known for producing spectacular woodcarving, paintings and sculptures. These items are wonderful souvenirs to bring home from some of the many shops and boutiques on the island.
In addition to arts, there are a number of different festivals on the island that visitors love to attend while visiting. Some of the more interesting and unique festivals in Bali include Nyepi the New Year’s fest, barond dances, and odlan or temple festivals. Bali has a variety of famous performing arts cultures as well including percussion orchestras and dances.
