| The Useriner Lake is five kilometers long and forms part of the Mecklenburg Lake District. There is a channel which connects the lake to the Havel which means that there is a great variety of possibilities for the tourist. The Userin Lake is also very popular with anglers due to the peace and quiet there.
Should you book a hotel in Userin itself then you have to visit the half timbered church dating from 1778. The church has a hipped roof so typical for the region. Tourists will wonder at the marvellous organ in the church which was installed duing the 20th Century but which originated from an old Prussian church. The castle island of Mirow has to be visited as it was here that the dukes of Mecklenburg lived during the 18th Century. The wonderfully decorated baroque festive hall and the crypt with the graves of the ducal family can also be seen. The grave of the grand duke of Mecklenburg Adolf Freidrich VI can be found on the island of love.
Neustrelitz has to be visited if you are staying near lake Userin and on the market place is the town church which has a richly decorated interior. The baroque altar, the Luther carpet and the baptismal fonts will enchant the visitor to the area. A stroll through the Neustrelitz harbour will take you back years with its old warehouses and the Chinese pavilion. The Userin Lake is easy to reach along the Autobahn A 20 or by train on the route connecting Berlin with Neustrelitz and Rostock.
