| A completely refurbished old winery, a nook surrounded by mountain peaks, where the imposing San Marco Castle stands, immersed in a fertile green area where the mythological Alcantara river runs through. The farmhouse has got a wide terrace and beyond it there are hectares of green, delimited by tall Pecan-nut trees. All the old spaces have been refurbished and rearranged, just as they used to be, those spaces belonging to the farmers and their labour, which meant working together, and this gave a special flavour to the land produce. The atmosphere is really rural and rich in scents and sounds which are typically Sicilian the smell of zagara when the citrus grove is in blossom, the cicadas, and the myriad of different birds ranging from blackbirds and goldfinches to woodpeckers, whose singing enlivens this spot so far away from the towns noise. Terrenia, even with its rural atmosphere, is not forgetful of the importance of a distinctive style and elegant touch, at the basis of an excellent reception. Dining: Terrenia also offers a unique restaurant where anybody can taste our typical Sicilian dishes and pizzas. Banquet parties are welcome. Specialities: Bread, Pasta, Jams and Marmalades, Vegetable Preserves, Fruit, Pesto sauces Cultivation of: oranges, lemons, tangerines, peach trees, apricot trees, plum trees, kiwi, almond trees, medlar trees, apple and pear trees, melons, and pecan-nuts, which we use to make our pesto sauces. Vegetables in season: courgettes, aubergines (eggplants), tomatoes, lettuce, broad beans (fava beans), peas, cabbage lettuce, beans, broccoli, cauliflower Restaurant on the terrace. Recreation: These are the activities that Terrenia has planned during your holiday to make your stay more exciting. We organise painting and terracotta workshops, guests are welcome to help making our home-made bread, pasta and conserves or they can pick up fruit from the trees in our orchard, experiencing unique and natural Sicilian savours. Sports Facilities: Two tennis courts and a swimming pool are under construction. Guests can hire bicycles for mountain bike rides and excursions in the nearby countryside. Relaxing Holidays: Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere at the Terrenia agritourism. Guests wishing to keep fit can exercise in our gymnasium and take a sauna or go jogging and walking. Terrenia is surrounded by a large park where our visitors can simply decide to sit comfortably and take pleasure from the restful environment offered by this locus amoenus. |
