| Schorfheide is an area to the north east of Berlin in one of the largest continuously forested areas in Germany. The biosphere reserve of Schorfheide-Chorin contains a wealth of unusual flora and fauna such as cranes and marsh tortoises.
Should you book a hotel in Groß Schönebeck it is worth visiting the hunting castle which was built in the 17th Century for Count Friedrich Wilhelm. The organ dating from the 18th Century and the altar in the Immanuel church are worthy of note. The old water tower in Joachimstal offers one of the best views over Schorfheide from the top. Templin is an impressive town with its totally preserved defensive system. The Nature Mineral Water baths in Schorfheide offer relaxation and all kinds of beauty and relaxation treatments are available in the „Villa Morgentau“.
If your hotel is in Zehdenick you should visit the Local Museum and the museum courtyard of the painter Kurt Mühlenhaupt, whilst one of the most popular excursions in the area is to lake Werbellin. Sailing, canoeing, diving and boat trips are all avaialble to make your stay memorable and varied in Schorfheide. A place of especial interest is the Pionier Republic Wilhelm Pieck which was an exemplary example of such youth camps throughout the German Democratic Republic. The region can be reached along the Autobahn A 11 or by train, the Heidekraut Bahn, from the S-Bahn station of Berlin-Karow.

The hotel was opened in September of 1998 and is architecturally unique in Germany boasting a glass facade serving as transparant thermal insulation and being completely covered with plants and grass.
