| A stay on the shores of lake Scharmützel will take you to a popular leisure area in Brandenburg. The lake is 10 kilometers long and is in the Spree valley to the south of Berlin. Via the Storkow Canal lake Scharmützel is connected with other lakes and rivers in the Berlin area which makes it ideal for undertaking boat tours. Fürstenwalde is not far away and the cathedral of St. Marien has been the seat of the bishops of Lebus since the 14th Century. The church was rebuilt at the end of the war and a new organ was built. In October the Fürstenwald Medieval Market takes place and the region’s hotels are fully booked. Sailing, diving, angling, golf and tennis are all possible during your stay on lake Scharmützel. The Autobahn A12 Berlin-Frankfurt takes you direct to the area and there is also an hourly train service from Fürstenwalde to lake Scharmützel. The largest employer in the area is the tyre manufacturer Pneumant in Fürstenwalde.
