Santa Margherita is honored to have had among its many famous guests, Guglielmo Marconi, who between 1932 and 1936 carried out important experiments in instrument navigation, and turned the city lights of Sidney on from a distance of thousands of miles. Be sure to visit Genoa La Superba (30 kilometres). It is slendid and little-known city. Visit the museums, churches, the largest historical centre of Europe, port, lighthouse, Staglieno Cemetery, aquarium (second largest in the world), Carlo Felice Opera House, and the house of Cristoforo Colombo. If you vacation in mid-October, you will be able to visit the International Boat Show of Genoa. |
