From Milan - at the Highway Milan exit, take State road nr.36 for Milano-Lecco-Colico, then take State road 38, named 'Stelvio', up to Tirano/165 km/. From Tirano the road continues up to Bormio/207 km/ and Livigno /237 km/. From Val Camonica- trough the Aprica Pass drive up to Tirano and then to Bormio. From the eastern, central and southern Italian Regions- a highway leading to Bolzano is practicable all year round. From Bolzano take the high-speed road up to Merano, then proceed to the Val Venosta, towards the Swiss border, in the direction of the *Munt la Schera* tunnel. From Switzerland /Zernez, in Engandina valley/- Livigno can be reached through the *Galleria della Drossa* tunnel. In Summer a range of Passes is practicable- from Bergamo area- San Marco Pass, the drive to Morbegno, Sondrio, Tirano, Bormio. From Brescia area - Passo del Mortirolo, the Mazzo, Grosio, Bormio, Passo del Gavia leading to Santa Caterina Valfurva and Bormio. From Bolzano aera-Stelvio Pass,then drive down to Bormio. From Tirano - from the Suiss border take the Poschiavo direction then trough the Forcola Pass to Livigno. From Switzerland - S.Maria Pass connecting to the road leading from Stelvio to Bormio Forcola Pass, then drive down to Livigno. From Zurich - Landquart /CH/- Davos /CH/ - Fluela Pass - Zernez -*Munt la Schera* tunnel. By train - The aerea is served by the Milano-Lecco-Sondrio-Tirano railway line.Directs trains take about 2-1/2 hours from Milan to Tirano. From Tirano, Bormio and the other villages of the upper Valtellina can be reached by bus. From St. Moritz in Switzerland the Tirano end station of the Retica Railway Line can be reached. Then proceed to the upper Valtellina by bus. |
