The province of Ragusa is located in the south-east of Sicily. Here you will find beautiful Baroque buildings the massif of the Monti Iblei and shimmering golden sand beaches. The coastal section of Ragusa extends from Scoglitti to Pozzallo about 50 km. Here you can meet alternately on fine sandy beaches rugged cliffs tourist strongholds and picturesque little fishing village. The local cuisine is closely linked to the peasant tradition. The desserts are presenting themselves as true culinary delights.1. The Church Of San Giuseppe - built in the second half of the 18th century it has an interesting prospective with statues featuring the Saints and the Saints of the Benedettini order. The interior of an oval form in rococo style has a splendid wooden statue of San Giuseppe faced in silver. 2. The Castle of Palazzolo built on a rock dominating the Anapo Valley dates back to the Norman period. There are only a few ruins of this superb castle which was destroyed in the 1693 earthquake with most of the town and which was the home of the Alagona barons and other lords. The town was rebuilt in the 18th century and the late original Baroque style of architecture blends with 19th and early 20th century architecture. |
