| Built in 1964 by the prestigious architect D. Jose Maria Coderch, the building is renowned for being something special. The Meliá de Mar is without doubt one of the most charismatic hotels on the island and is one of the best examples of modern Architecture in the Balearics. The building is now under protection due to its historical patrimony. With its 7 floors, right in front of the Mediterranean Sea, the building emphasises modernity, quality and design.
Meliá de Mar complements its enviable location, views and facilities with art that touches the soul and stimulates the imagination. The lighting and decoration of the rooms and hallways of each floor has been undertaken by a selected artist sharing and explaining their vision around a particular theme. These include Palma in Spring, Light and the Purpose of Travel. A related poem at the entrance of each floor complements the displays.
The result is spectacular and inspiring, elevating Melia de Mar into a living art gallery, where each floor combines colours, textures and patterns to provoke new thoughts and bring different sensations to life.
