Business hours of reception: 06:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. The hotel PALACE is located imposingly and magnificently on the sunniest plateau in the Jungfrau-Region. With its accent on personal service, this hotel benefits from a 130-year-old tradition, while still being modern and perfect for holidays, seminars and special occasions. Its friendly and modern rooms and suites invite our guests to enjoy the spectacular views of the surrounding Alpine panorama (UNESCO world natural heritage) of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The PALACE has direct access to an indoor sports centre with an Olympic-sized indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi (free of charge), sauna, solarium, exercise room, squash, tennis courts, ice-rink and curling-rink. It is also directly connected to the tourist information centre and the sports- and balloon museum.
Due to urgent renovation the hotel is closed during the summer season 2009. The reopening will be in the winter season 2009 from 20. December 2009. |
The location of the hotel is beautiful, just up the hill from the Lauterbrunen gondola. The room had a wonderful view, and the breakfast buffet was excellent. The lawn with shade trees and lounge chairs to enjoy the view was very nice. The non-smoking room request was honored. The staff has a nice motorized cart which they kindly helped us get our luggage to the gondola when we left--I wish we had known about it when we arrived.
Directions should be given to take the Lauterbrunen gondola access, which is very convenient to the hotel. Unfortunately that was not specified, and we took the Steckelberg gondola, requiring a 15 minute hike with luggage accross town. The hallway on our floor 1 was dark and smelled of smoke, containing 2 ashtrays, even though the hotel was not full, the room assigned to us was one with a door connecting it to the adjacent room, our room also had a diagonal structural beam
