When taking a stroll through the Old Town, with its statues of historical personalities, you will get to the castle church with the world famous door at which Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses, to his grave and the one of Philipp Melanchthon, to the courts of Master Cranach, to the town church with the impressive Cranach-Altar and the houses of Luther and Melanchthon. The Old Town is kind of an open air museum where you can re-discover this part of world history. The Luther Hotel Wittenberg is a place of rest and the ideal starting point for your activities at the same time. We found staff to be helpful and they responded competently to requests for assistance and information.
Regular access to English language newspapers would have been good. My German was not always up to the standard that made reading a daily newspaper in German a pleasure over breakfast, so we really enjoyed the english language newspaper when it was available.
The Hotel's English daily memos/promotions were sometimes unintentionally funny and translations of Bible verses were sometimes incorrect, even unintelligible. They did not cause offence to either my husband or me, but might to deeply religious guests.
A little more flexibility on check in time would be helpful to overseas visitors who are tired and jet lagged.
