Reception not open when we arrived - had to call to be let into hotel. Apart from that, fine.

I have no problem with the room. As I have indicated it was very clean. The bathroom could have been a little bigger but overall the room was not the problem. Generally the whole hotel was clean and the location perfect. The reason I wouldn't recommend this hotel is the staff. When we arrived a member of the hotel staff was outside the hotel by the entrance, smoking. (obviously I have no problem with this). However, her additude was extremely unprofessional. I understand that not everyone speaks English but she never made any attempt to treat us as paying customers. She barely grunted a reply and told us to go to the CVJM "Sleep-In". We had arrived early and assumed she was telling us to check-in at the "Sleep-In". She never even asked if we had a reservation or even politely told us that they were full. Her colleague at the "Sleep-In" was very helpful and spoke some English. Our reservation was there but the hotel had messed it up. I had originally asked for 2 single rooms but the hotel had reserved a twin room. I have to admit this wasn't a problem, as that was what I was looking for originally, in fact it saved us money, but still it could have been unacceptable. However, the major failing of the hotel staff was then not to tell us that we would have to use a side entrance when returning to the hotel in the evening as the reception seemed to close at 1.00pm. We couldn't get back into the hotel and only managed so when some other customers pointed out the side door. We should have been told about it by the hotel staff. My friend wasn't well and was eager to return to the room at the time. This lack of communication is unacceptable.

The hotel was clean, ordered, quiet and did supply an adequate breakfast -satisfactory for the price of 36 euros. The room was indeed small, although this is perhaps to be expected with it being modestly priced. The one negative point was the "distant" attitude of the manager, however, this was perhaps exacerbated by the difficulties in communication. That is, my lack of German and their limited understanding of English
