| The Grange Hotel was built in 1866 in grand Italianate style by the Furness Railway company, who transformed the medieval
village of Grange into a select resort for Victorian gentry.
The combination of balmy, warm weather, fine houses and
delightful gardens made Grange-over-Sands one of the most
fashionable resorts of the day.
The Grange Hotel has been extensively and tastefully refurbished, complete with marble floors and chandeliers � in keeping with its original grand style. Fine terraced gardens overlook the town. Many of the rooms have front-facing Bay views, whilst others look out onto our private woodland. The town is famed for its peace and unspoiled charm as well as its beautiful, mile long promenade and myriad of interesting little shops.
Small wonder then that Bill Bryson, the feted travel writer,
described the Grange Hotel as one of his 6 favourite UK destinations. |

Grange Hotel is located on the southern tip of the Lake District National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty in the North West of England. The hotel is just 10 minutes drive from Lake Windermere and all its attractions, yet its position overlooking the quiet Victorian town of Grange-over-Sands means that it lies out of the hustle and bustle of the main tourist trade.
The hotel stands in an elevated position overlooking the town and enjoys panoramic views across Morecambe Bay. Close by is the historic village of Cartmel with its 13th century Priory church, two golf courses and the only figure-of-eight
racecourse in England. Holker Hall & Gardens are just 5 miles away; as is Levens Hall, the historical Elizabethan
stately home of the Bagot family and world famous topiary gardens. |

Starting point: From Manchester Airport
Turn left out of the Airport on to the M56 westbound, following
signs for North Wales, Preston and Liverpool. At Junction 9 turn
onto M6 northbound, following signs for Preston. Drive to Junction
36 of M6. From M6, Junction 36 follow A590 signposted to Barrow
in Furness and Grange-over-Sands. The road is a fast dual
carriageway for most of the route. At Meat hop roundabout take
the first left turn, follow the road into Lindale village and
turn left at the roundabout in the village. The hotel is
directly opposite Grange Railway Station, so follow signs to
Grange-over-Sands, and look out for the distinctive red Railway
sign.Starting point: From the M6 Motorway
From M6, Junction 36 follows A590 signposted to Barrow in Furness
and Grange-over-Sands. The road is a fast dual carriageway for
most of the route. At Meat hop roundabout take the first left
turn, follow the road into Lindale village and turn left at the
roundabout in the village. The hotel is directly opposite Grange
Railway Station, so follow signs to Grange-over-Sands, and look
out for the distinctive red Railway signStarting point: From Glasgow
Take the M8 following signs for Edinburgh/Carlisle/M73/
Stirling/M80 shortly after take the M73 exit towards Carlisle/
M74/A89/Coatbridge. Keep right at the fork, follow signs for
Carlisle and merge onto M73.
At junction 1, exit onto M74 toward Carlisle. Continue on M74
which turns to the A74 9M and then the A74, following the
signs for Carlisle. Just before Carlisle you will enter
England. Continue on M6 to Junction 36.
