Stars/Recommendation
Quiet hotel just off the Zugspitzstrasse (main drive). Central location in Garmisch. History as an old mill site and location between the mill stream and the Loisach river lend interest and tranquility. Staff were attentive. Accomodations were clean and well-tended through 3 night stay, though pillows were a bit flat. On-site restaurants were well-planned and well-staffed. Meals were really quite good for creativeness, freshness, price. Breakfast buffet was hearty by European standards. Pool was clean and relatively empty. "Quiet rooms" have a large balcony onto a central garden courtyard - a nice feature. Refrigerator and small range are included and 2 good markets are just next door - but guests would need their own pots to cook. Access the Marienplatz and downtown Garmish is just 8 blocks by foot or bus.
Rooms are a touch dated, though well-kept. No shampoo. Parking is limited when the hotel is full. Wireless internet - not currently available in the larger of the two dormitory buildings - would improve satisfaction.
