The Chateau is serenely set near a picturesque village surrounded by fields. The grounds are immaculate with many wooden armchairs and tables available on the lawn area for wine and quiet conversation. The pool is beautiful -- huge, clean and cool. Ping pong, volleyball, tennis courts and a little "chipping range" are all close to the pool. There is a casual indoor/outdoor dining area next to the pool where a lovely continental breakfast is served, and where lunch and snacks/drinks can be purchased. Attached to the hotel itself is a fantastic, though somewhat expensive, restaurant serving dinner. The chef can be seen throughout the day walking to the fields and to herb bushes to collect items for his meal preparation. There is also a large penned area with goats and deer which delighted the children in our group. The staff went above and beyond to accomodate our needs.

Our group had ~10 rooms altogether. The rooms varied in size and in furnishings. Some had air conditioning (which didn't really cool the room) and some didn't. However, all rooms have large windows which can be thrown open to the cool night air. We were not hot. Our room had a wooden parquay floor with somewhat drab wallpaper and "antique" furnishings. It was quite large. Other rooms were more "motel-like". The bathrooms were fine with plenty of hot water. One room truly looked like a palace -- you could picture Rapunzel there! The "workout room" was a joke -- flimsy equipment that seemed dangerous to use. However, there were plenty of trails and roads around for walking and running, and the pool, etc. were all great. Basically, it's not the Ritz, but it's exactly what we were looking for. If you are interested in real luxury in a room, then this may not be the place for you. But if you are looking for clean, comfortable rooms in a gorgeous setting, then I highly recommend it. We would definitely go back. |
