Very attractive hotel with a location normally good. Good accommodation, quiet good parking etc BUT please see my negative comments below.

At present this hotel is suffering from the U-Bahn construction in front of the hotel. However earlier in the year the Cologne Arcive building collapsed taking part of the road with it and preventing direct road access to the hotel. It is now necessary when approaching the hotel from the Aachen or south to cross the Rhine and join the Severinsbrucke and recross the Rhine and gain the hotel by a minor slip road. I paid a taxi driver to lead me on this route at a cost 0f 10 Euros. When I expressed my concern to the reception I did not feel that they were very symathetic to the situation. To gain the centre of Cologne by U-Bahn from the adjoining station a ticket cannot be purchased from the ticket machine with cash although the reception staff said it was possible. A member of the travelling pubic took pity on my wife and me and offered us one of her tickets. Basically the hotel can only be reached satisfactorily by foot. I have been using this hotel for over ten years and have previously been very pleased with my stay but the present situation leaves much to be desired |

Price/performance ratio is very positive, also the location of the hotel is perfect for a great weekend in Cologne!

Gutes Fruehstueck, nettes Personal

Zimmer ein wenig altmodisch, Steckdose locker, Grossbaustelle vor dem Hotel (Laermbelastung aber noch ok) |

Having stayed at a few Ibis hotels in the past including all 3 in Köln it was interesting to stay in a more upmarket version within the Accor hotels group. Breakfast was to the same standards as Ibis and the rooms were slightly larger. Slightly out of the way for the main part of the city centre (Dom/Hbf) but there is a tram stop beside the hotel where you can get a tram to Neumarkt.

Right out side the front of the hotel, contractors ar building a station for the new Nord-Sud s-Bahn and this work is continuous over 24 hours a day. We were Ok as we had a room at the back of the hotel. |

Excellent location within walking distance of most attractions.

Internet access very expensive. €25 for 24 hours time based ie whether you utilise it or not. |

The nightly rate was very high but that was due to the DRUPA show. at the normal rate it would be very good |

It is well situated for the city tram and bus service. It was close enough to the river for enjoyable walks on the riverside.

Loud. If the windows are open (which then need to be when it is 25C outside) then it is very loud. The electronic keys failed repeatedly and needed to be recoded. Admittedly, the hotel was remodelling the reception area, so some of the technical difficulties could have been due to that. |

The hotel is certainly not a "few minutes walk" from the Cathedral. More like half an hour. Breakfast costs an additional 15€/person. |
