Hotel Spalentor - your charming, smoke-free city hotel in the university town Basel with state-of-the-art conference rooms.

The hotel with 40 elegant and spacious rooms (30 m²) is located close to the Old Town, the university and the university hospital. The convenient bus service enables an easy access of the main station, fair centre and the airport.

Our hotel offers a copious breakfast, game room with billiard, dart, tabletop football for the young and the young at heart, fitness room, WLAN throughout the hotel, bath robe and bath slippers, tea and coffee making facilities as well as safe in all rooms. We also offer a DVD player with free DVD rental as well as free bike rental, an internet point and a small but nice selection of books in our conference room. The rooms do not provide a mini bar for ecological reasons. A drink dispenser with a wide choice is at the reception available.

The building directly faces the famous Gate of Spalen (former city gate in the ancient city walls of Basel) which is on the edge of the Old Town. The botanical garden, the zoo and museums are easily and quickly reachable on foot or via public transport with the Mobility Ticket.

Free internet. Good breakfast. Walking distance from city center. No parking facility, but enclosed public parking is closeby (14CHF per day). Tram noise can be a bit disturbing.

Well-equipped bathroom. Fruit offered on check-in. Personnel very friendly. Nice bar in the lobby for chatting and drinking. My room at the front-side of the building was very noisy, because of the streetcar line 3 that comes by till leate in teh evening, and starts again early in the morning. Rooms at the backside of the building might not have this problem. I will test this out a next time.

The hotel is located in the nice place, very near to the tram stations, easily identifiable.

Fabulous -- Only problems are tiny televisions and poor internet connections

Close to city center. There was absolutely no air in our room. To get some oxygen you have to open the window but the noise from the tram and the busy street is so loud that you have to close it immediately. If you don't need a lot of air in general you might not have problems staying there.

It is easier for me to write in germany. Alles ist gut in der Rüstung des Zimmer. Es ist groß, die Wand durch schöne Bilder geschmückt, gut geleuchtet, gutes Bett und besonders der Waschraum : breit und die Dusche ohne Treppe, was sehr wichtig ist für ältere und auch jüngere Leuten. Nur eins ist schade, man hört gut am Morgen die Leuten die im oberen Zimmer gehen. Leider kann man das nicht verbesseren, der Grund ist im Bau des Hotels
