Beijing (Chinese: also formerly known in English as Peking) is a metropolis in northern China and the capital of the People's Republic of China.
It is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China. Beijing is looking back on a magnificent 3,000-year-old history.
Beijing is a megalopolis that can be divided into the city itself and its associated districts in the suburbs. The city is characterised by a high population density as well as a high site density.
While staying in Beijing you should make sure to visit its numerous sights, e.g. the Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, which ranks among the World Cultural Heritages. Forbidden City’s former emperor’s palace and the numerous temples are a must-see during your stay in Beijing.
For relaxation we recommend you to visit the impressive Yiheyuan Park. Beijing is home of a unique cultural heritage. If you can find the time you should make a trip to nearby Badaling, where the famous Chinese Wall is located.
Being China’s second largest industrial centre, Beijing generates numerous jobs. The city’s economy is dominated by clothes manufacturing, electronics and the production of canned goods. Still, 900,000 people are working in the agricultural sector.
Beijing is the ideal location to live and work. The city has also become renowned as touristic destination, providing for numerous hotels, restaurants, cafés and bars, which will indulge the hotels guests.
Beijing’s infrastructure is very well organised. Owing to the city’s airports and train connections it will be easy for the tourists to travel to all parts of the country. The world-famous Trans-Siberian Railway will stop in Beijing on its way to Europe. A total of nine major roads form a traffic network that connects the city to the rest of the country.
