Innsbruck is the capital city of the federal state of Tyrol in western Austria. It is located in the Inn Valley at the junction with the Wipptal, which provides access to the Brenner Pass, some 30 km/18.5 miles south of Innsbruck and is famous as college and trading town.
In order to care for the more than 3,000 overnight stays by passing travellers every day, Innsbruck has a large number of hotels to offer. The beautiful town in the Alps is famous for its metropolitan flair within natural surroundings and the conspicuous Goldene Dachl (Golden Roof), a Gothic bay that is covered by nearly 3,000 golden shingles.
