In the period from January to June, commissionable net checkout volumes totalled Euro 163.10 million (previous year: Euro 150.20 million), corresponding to year-on-year growth of 8.6%.
Dr. Heinz Raufer, CEO of hotel.de AG commented on the recent developments: “Despite the growth achieved compared with first quarter, we are still not satisfied with the development in our commissionable net checkout volumes in the second quarter. The weaker level of growth compared with booking volumes respectively the incoming orders was due to the relative weakness of incoming orders in the first quarter of 2011, a factor now reflected in commissionable net checkout volumes in the second quarter of 2011. Individual foreign markets, for example, posted below average performances. Given the very positive development in booking volumes in the second quarter, we expect to see a further improvement, also in terms of our commissionable net checkout volumes, in the third quarter.”
Ongoing growth in booking figures
The number of bookings made also continued to rise, increasing by 11.2% to 480,042 in the second quarter of 2011 (Q2 2010: 431,803). A total of 941,858 bookings were made in the first six months as a whole, 9.3% up on the previous year’s figure of 861,643. In view of the positive overall booking figures for the second quarter and the traditionally stronger business performance in the second half of the financial year, the Management Board of hotel.de AG is upholding its forecast of generating sales growth in a low double-digit percentage range.
* The booking figures stated here correspond to the data inquiry status on 01.07.2011. Booking figures may subsequently be reduced by cancellations. Since the first quarter of 2011 we have converted our reporting to net booking volumes adjusted for non-commissionable bookings.
