Nürnberg, 23rd February 2006 – As in the years before, German-based hotel.de AG – operating a leading reservation service for 180,000 hotels worldwide under the domains www.hotel.de, hotel.at and www.hotel.ch since October 2001 – exceeds by far all expectations for relevant key data in 2005.
hotel.de with its huge customer base of more than 1.1 million hotel bookers generated 1.68 million room nights last year, representing a total booking volume of nearly 134 million Euros, with an increase of 127% compared to the previous year.
The hotel.de AG started out in late 2001 with a team of 12 employees after having separated from Atrada AG, a T-Online subsidiary. Within the course of the first year of business operations the hotel.de AG reached break-even and has been operating profitably ever since.
Currently hotel.de records approx. 1.3 million visitors and produces about 30 million page views per month, with more than 220,000 room nights booked monthly, totalling in 17 million Euros hotel booking volume per month.
hotel.de by now managed to acquire more than 10,000 travel agencies and online travel sites within its affiliate program, such as airberlin.com, airport-nuernberg.de, hannover-airport.de, flughafen-koeln.de, marcopolo.de, hamburg.de, berlin.de, sekretaerinnen.de, bahn.de, sbroker.de, drkservice.de or bsw.de.
This huge partner network has come to fruition. The growth in the current quarter amounts to more than 100% compared to the same quarter of the previous year. At present, hotel.de has more than 1.1 million booking customers in its data base with 1,200 new booking customers to register daily.
While hotel.de is being used by private end consumers as well, more than 120,000 small and medium-sized entities as well as around 120 large corporations benefit from using hotel.de’s free of charge corporate program.
Business customers can book their corporate rates which have been negotiated between their company’s travel management and the hotels. In addition to that, hotel.de offers the corporate travel booker specifically acquired corporate discount rates so that the customer can always select the lowest one. hotel.de delivers its product simply by either integrating it into the corporate’s intranet or by a password-protected internet access to the hotel.de corporate application.
Dr. Heinz Raufer, CEO Marketing of hotel.de AG, has a simple explanation for hotel.de’s success: "Our position on the market, which we have been able to reach in quite a short period of time, is the result of our highly motivated team of 275 employees working hard every day, as well as our efficient business model: hotel.de offers advantages – not only for our booking clients, but also for our cooperating partner hotels and hotel chains. The booking customer is being provided with a maximum of market and price transparency thus saving cost and time, while partnering hotels increasingly use hotel.de in order to market their offers quickly and at low cost."
hotel.de AG, based in Hamm und Nürnberg, Germany, runs a free of charge hotel reservation service for companies and private users on www.hotel.de, hotel.at and www.hotel.ch. hotel.de AG offers 180.000 hotels throughout the world to be booked online. Compared to other booking channels, hotel.de customers benefit from considerable cost savings. These partially result from the very low hotel rates which hotel.de is able to negotiate with hotels thanks to its high booking volume. Additionally, hotel.de always displays all rates available for every single hotel (e.g. promotional rates, corporate or weekend rates), so that the customer can choose the lowest or best-fitting rate. Another major advantage of hotel.de is the fact that booking confirmations are sent right into the hotel's computer - making a reservation fast, safe and reliable. This is enabled by hotel.de's unique integration of the hotels' central reservation systems (so-called CRS) under one consistent user surface. Well-known companies, such as Wella AG (subsidiary of Procter & Gamble), SAP AG, ThyssenKrupp AG, degussa AG, Logica CMG GmbH, Ernst & Young AG, Wal-Mart, Texas Instruments Inc., Deutsche Börse Group, Munich Re Group and others already use the hotel.de corporate application.
